Mareta Beach House

The pool is nice and the location is great, but at almost $300/night I found the hotel entirely overpriced. The rooms were clean, though the place has zero charm and the service was very basic. The front desk seemed completely uninterested in helping, even when I asked a simple question about whether Uber was reliable in Sagres. Housekeeping also seemed annoyed when they knocked and I said, “yes, please” to having my room cleaned.

We got a very good out-of-season rate, and breakfast was good. The place was comfortable, with fantastic views, though we didn’t use any of the services. There are local places to eat. A kettle and some tea bags in the room would have been useful.

The main drawback for me was the soundproofing. From a ground-floor room, I could clearly hear people upstairs walking around and moving chairs. It didn’t bother me for one night, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer for that reason alone. The rooms are large and clean, with great sea views, and there’s a good pool. Local bars and restaurants are close by, and breakfast was decent. Overall, a good choice for a night or two.

We had a relaxing stay and really enjoyed the pool and communal garden. The room was excellent, with a large balcony, and the location and view were unbelievable. Breakfast had a reasonable selection, but the dark downstairs room felt a little neglected, and there were very few staff around. That part could be improved.
