Dona Julia

It's a real local home rather than a hotel or luxury stay, so set your expectations accordingly. Even so, we were super happy there and would stay again. Dona Julia is a lovely, kind older lady who was always ready to help with a warm smile. There's a language barrier, though we always managed to communicate and she accommodated us. In summer, her younger sons are there to help. We really appreciated being allowed to shower late on checkout day after a morning hike. We'd left our room, but she gave us a key to get back into the house, plus extra towels and soap. The location is on a very quiet street, with parking right out front and walking distance to the airport, restaurants and the harbor for boats to Corvo. The guest areas are completely separate from the owner's part of the house. The shared bathroom and common spaces were cleaned daily and spotless. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The shared bathroom was large, with a comfortable shower. The kitchen is basic, but there's space in the fridge and somewhere to sit and prepare simple meals. We had room 1, one of three rooms. It was a little small and short on storage, while the other rooms were much larger and had good storage, so we'd recommend one of those if you can.

Five stars hardly covers it. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the home had a wonderful local feel. Everything was very clean, including the rooms and bathroom. Breakfast was included, and we could use the kitchen too. It's just a few minutes' walk from the airport, and transport to anywhere on the island was possible. ♥️

The house is a few minutes' walk from the airport and supermarkets, with parking right outside, and transport to any point on the island is possible. The lovely lady doesn't speak English, but you'll find a way to communicate if you really need to 😊

Everything was really clean, and we had a great time at Julia house. It's a charming house and a good choice for the price. Julia is amazing and helps with everything.
