Vila Joaninha

The two women who met us showed us the rooms, but the smell of dust, stale air, and mold was unbearable. The place has rustic charm in the photos, yet it needed a deep clean. The sheets were old, and there was a blowfly on the nightstand, which made us think maintenance had been poor. It seemed like the house had been shut up for a long time, and that really affected our stay. We felt so uncomfortable that we left to find somewhere else.

The outdoor area was beautiful, surrounded by nature, with ducks, chickens, cats, and rabbits wandering around on their own. Inside and out, the house is spacious, with three bedrooms that can easily fit a whole family. It has everything you need, including a barbecue and outdoor table. The house is old and has that old-house smell. There was also an upstairs floor we weren't shown, so we didn't use it. It's well located, about 15-20 minutes from the airport and other destinations, though the roads are steep and tricky. I recommend it for a quiet holiday, even if you're looking for a break from technology. There is a TV and Wi-Fi, and both work perfectly.

The garden has rabbits, ducks, and chickens roaming freely, and the house itself has a working kitchen and modern bathroom. It sits high on the island and has a stylish, old-time feel. We slept well in the attractive, comfortable wooden beds. Staying here was an incredible experience.
