One of my favourite places for a wedding that feels classic but still rustic. The venue is about an hour’s drive from Lisbon, and you can get ready, hold the wedding, and have the welcome party all in the same place. Its blue-trimmed buildings have an Alentejo look, and they have a licence if you want to bring a priest and hold the ceremony there.

We visited in May, when it was around 30-31 degrees, and had a relaxing stay. The place is about 4 km outside santarem, on a quinta, in one of the renovated cottages. It was lovely seeing and listening to the birds and looking at the wildflowers. The ladies looked after us really well, especially with breakfast brought to our room each morning. There was bread, cake, fruit, orange juice, granola, ham, cheese, yoghurt, and milk, enough to keep you going all day. I understand the venue is also used for weddings, so a stay might feel different on a big event day. We’d recommend it.
