A nice place to get away from the chaos for two or three days. The hotel was clean and the staff were nice. The pool needed more attention, though, with a morning clean before guests were let in. Breakfast was the sort of basics you’d have at home, bread, eggs, cheese, ham, juice, coffee, milk and yogurt. My room’s shutters let the light in too easily. I’d recommend it for a short escape.

The place looked full of promise in the website photos, but it didn’t deliver. We booked a suite, though it felt more basic than one, and the view was just a driveway. The room was very old-fashioned. Breakfast was okay, with little choice, but pleasant enough. There were lovely landscape views when we ate outside, and sitting up by the pool in the sun was nice. The pool itself was dirty, so we didn’t use it. The whole hotel smelled of air freshener, so strongly it got right in my throat. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, which wasn’t much use to us. I wouldn’t recommend it or come back.

When I went for dinner at the restaurant today, the owner was extremely rude to us. The kids wanted to play, so we took them into the hallway to avoid disturbing anyone, but the owner told us to leave even though we weren’t bothering other guests. I’d stayed in one of the rooms back in April and it was fine. After this experience, I’d never return and wouldn’t recommend the place.

A Brazilian meat barbecue at the restaurant was superb, and the sides were enough to make a meal on their own. Receptionist Grassis was so welcoming and helpful. What a fantastic find. I’ll definitely be back as a fly-in stopover.
