Solar de Lalem

We loved the breakfast and the comfortable beds. They welcomed us so warmly at Solar de Lalém that we felt right at home in the beautiful historic guesthouse. Thank you!

We wished we could have stayed longer and would definitely return. It's a beautiful historic building with the modern amenities you'd expect, in a lovely area to explore around town. Our room had a guide booklet with restaurant suggestions. We also got a free room upgrade, and the manager brought us milk and sugar so we could enjoy locally made tea in the room. Fantastic service.

The rooms are spacious, breakfast is delicious, and there's a swimming pool too. We were impressed by the excellent customer service, with very friendly staff always ready to help with anything we needed. An incredible place to stay.

We loved this old inn, with its history going back to the 17th century. The rooms are large, airy, and comfortable, and ours looked over Maia and the Atlantic. The area is great for hiking and scenery, which was the main reason our two couples travelled through the Azores. Breakfast was included and very good, and we enjoyed it each morning on the patio. We also liked having an evening glass of wine on the patio outside the lounge. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially manager Fabio, who was great fun, and bar hostess Inês, who was so friendly and a real asset to the place. Maia is a small, lovely village right on the Atlantic. We found a couple of local restaurants within walking distance, with amazing food, especially fish. We went back to them a few times and even made friends with the servers, who treated us like royalty. Highly recommended!
