Casa do Bica

The swimming spot was the best part for us. It’s a five-minute walk away, and we went every day for a quick dip and some snorkeling. We seemed to have the largest of the three accommodations, with three rooms. The place was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed, including a well-equipped kitchen and a washing machine shared with the other guests. Even though it’s on a main road, the thick walls keep it pleasantly quiet. There are nice hikes starting nearby, a mini-market about 15 minutes away on foot, a large supermarket around 30 minutes away, and a bus stop five minutes away. Parking for one car is available across the street. We were completely satisfied and would definitely return.

The seawater pool, only about five minutes away on foot, was a daily treat for swimming and snorkeling. At the end of September it was pleasantly busy, and the view was stunning. We also hiked to Lagoa do Pico and the nearby reservoir, which was fantastic. We loved staying here and felt São Roque do Pico was the sunniest place on the island. We could swim every day and even got sunburned! We had an apartment with two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and shower room. The kitchen was excellent and well equipped, and a washing machine was shared with two other guest apartments. If you hang laundry outside, watch out for the wind. Internet was unreliable at times, but it worked overall, and EU roaming made the issue manageable. We didn’t have a car for the first few days. The small supermarket is a 10-minute walk and the large hypermarket a 30-minute walk. A taxi from the airport costs around €20. There’s a bus stop three minutes from the house, and we paid about €2 each to get to the airport, though buses run very infrequently. Parking is across from the accommodation.

A pleasant house in good condition, with a good host. I recommend it for a weekend.
