We were clearly welcomed with a pleasant, friendly reception. The space is nice, the rooms are a good size, and we liked the decor, but some basic things needed attention for us to feel comfortable. The kitchen lacked a few basic utensils, and the furniture layout made the sink hard to reach. The living room furniture was very uncomfortable and damaged, the TV was small, and there was no dining table. The interior doors took tremendous effort to open or close and made a lot of noise. Until there’s better care and maintenance, I can’t recommend it.

The owner has his own wine production and brand, and let us visit his traditional Adega da Talha. It was a unique experience, and both the red and white wines were phenomenal, well worth tasting. There’s also a spring on the estate with fresh natural water that the kids loved. We went as a family and really enjoyed our excellent stay in the very comfortable, cozy houses. They have heated floors, so we were never cold. I highly recommend it.

D. Lurdes at reception was wonderful, and honestly that was the one good part of the service. The fridge made a lot of noise overnight, and the bed had what seemed to be a bug infestation. I slept in my car the first night, then on the floor the second. After night one, the cleaner did everything she could to get the bugs out of the mattress, but that night the bed was still full of what looked like bedbugs. Hygiene at a tourist accommodation should be a duty, not a choice. The owner told me he would try to get the room cleaned on the first day. I emailed videos that night and got no reply, so I’m sharing my dissatisfaction here and will also raise it through other channels.

I cancelled the booking because the call about bringing my pets left me feeling that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the stay. I’d booked this place specifically because it said it accepted animals. When I called to confirm, a man answered in a very disapproving, inappropriate tone and added conditions that hadn’t been stated when I booked, including that I could bring only one animal, not two. He also said the rooms are hand-painted. If they don’t want to accept animals, they shouldn’t list the accommodation as pet-friendly. They refused to refund the full amount, even though the mistake was theirs for not making the conditions clear from the start.
