North Coast Guest House

Rúben was incredibly kind when our trip was cut short, so we could only stay one night instead of three. He offered a refund for the unused nights and said we could return another time to use them and do some surfing. We didn't accept the refund because the change was our fault, but we really appreciated the offer. The place itself has comfortable beds, a great shower and a fully equipped kitchen, everything you'd want. We'll definitely come back for a proper stay next time!

Breakfast outside in the tropical garden was a real pleasure, with views of the sea and surrounding mountains, and the staff were very friendly. Our room at Madeira Surf Lodge was clean, cozy and a decent size, with its own balcony facing the garden. The location gets four stars from us because you need a car to get there; it's a little outside the centre of Sao Vincente, and the road would be a steep walk, as is typical on Madeira. Since we would probably drive around the island with a rental car anyway, that wasn't a problem for us.

We kept wanting to return to Madeira Surf Lodge and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, even while we were out exploring. The setting, with its mountains, bright flowers and lush greenery, made it easy to relax and fall in love with the surroundings. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and the staff were so kind and welcoming. We felt at ease from the minute we arrived. It's also conveniently close to the São Vicente town center. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

The garden is lovely for relaxing, and the room was okay, though we hadn't expected to share the balcony with the neighboring guests. Our stay was disappointing mainly because of the communication and arrangements. On arrival, no one answered when we rang the doorbell, so we had to call the host ourselves before he sent the double room access details by WhatsApp. It would've been much easier and more professional to have received them in advance. Our booking clearly included 3 surf lessons and breakfast, but the host said on the phone they weren't included. That was confusing and disappointing, and his later message offering breakfast after all only made the whole thing feel more disorganized. The experience didn't meet our expectations.
