The seafood linguine at the hotel restaurant was legendary. We had it for lunch during a pleasant weekend stay, and the welcoming, helpful staff made us feel at home. Internet only worked near reception or the wine bar, not in our room, which cost it a star. Still, we liked the hotel and plan to come back.

The view and location were fantastic, and most of the staff were kind and friendly. But the place badly needs maintenance. The old bathroom taps wouldn't shut off and had separate hot and cold controls; the shower wouldn't shut off either, leaving water everywhere. There was no Wi-Fi, though we eventually got a mobile data repeater. Breakfast was simple. The espresso was really good, but the coffee included with breakfast was awful, and cost extra. We found three cockroaches, 5-7 cm long, in two days, so we moved.

A charming place with good food and friendly staff. It's well placed for walks and right beside a bus stop, though the last bus comes in the afternoon. There aren't any taxis in Serra de Agua, but you can get one from Ribeira Brava.

We spent two weeks in the wooden blockhouse and had no complaints. The service was very kind and helpful, the dinner was good, and the view was beautiful.
