Day Off Suite&Hostel

The city centre location made everything close by, and the place itself was quiet and lovely. It felt secure, clean and spacious, just right for our short stay while I had a few days of work to do. The staff were lovely. Christina, the manager, was always around to help and keep us updated, even when the blackout happened.

It looks beautiful as soon as you walk in, and it was really clean. The team was quick to reply and very helpful.

Christina at the front desk welcomed us so warmly and handled a mix-up with the bookings really nicely. She also shared local tips that made our stay a full success. The service was so good we'd give it six stars if we could. Thank you so much! Our room was spacious and nicely clean. The streets nearby seemed quite noisy at night to me, though that comes down to personal preference.

The rooftop terrace was lovely, there were lockers, and staff responded quickly when I called about problems. The floors had strange plastic carpeting that stained everywhere, although they otherwise seemed clean. Even with nobody else in my dorm, it was much noisier than full six-person dorms I've stayed in. The insulation was poor, so I heard conversations throughout the building, and whenever someone shut a door, mine shook. Check-in was a mess. Nobody was at reception when I arrived, I was locked out, and no instructions had been sent. I had to switch on roaming to sort it out. They seemed annoyed I wasn't using WhatsApp. If I'd known that was their preferred way to communicate, I could have downloaded it again in advance, but I wasn't going to do that using roaming data. On the second day, reception was staffed, but after dinner the door code failed and I was locked out again. Luckily someone picked up quickly and reset it. I can't imagine what would have happened if my phone had died or it had been later at night. I don't know whether things are different in tourist season, but if they can't afford to have people on site or enough staff to stay organized, they should close in the off season.
