RM Guest House - The Experience

We were really happy with our short stay at the RM. The adjoining padaria made breakfast easy, and the team at the front desk were friendly. At first the location seemed a little quiet and remote, but once we found our way around it made sense: the waterfront and port are a block or two one way, and the winding Old Town streets with plenty of places to eat and drink are a block or two the other way. We weren't sure what to expect from a guest house compared with a boutique hotel, but the place felt charming and cozy, with a lot of care put into how it's designed and run. The upstairs lounge has an honor bar and thoughtful touches throughout. Our suite was comfortable, with a really comfy bed. The regular rooms might feel tight to some, though they’re nicely designed and appointed with what you need. The bathrooms are quite integrated into the room, which could be an issue for privacy. Aside from that, we were completely satisfied and would recommend it.

The city center location still felt peaceful and private, and the rooms were comfortable and very well designed. From arrival, the staff made us feel welcome with little thoughtful gestures, including complimentary drinks. We had a fantastic stay and I’d definitely return.

The location was great, right by the Christmas market, and the attentive staff made check-in and checkout easy. Our room was ready even though we arrived an hour before the usual check-in time. I liked that this wasn’t a soulless chain hotel and that the modern design had some character. There’s a shared honesty bar where you can have your welcome drink or meet friends. The room was quite small and had no storage. The sink was tiny, so water splashed around, including onto the wooden panels, which had warped. The curtains were pretty dirty too. Breakfast being included was a nice touch, but the choices were limited and tasted like nothing.

We were in Setúbal for the triathlon and the hotel was thoughtful about what we’d need. Breakfast was delicious and gave us a good start on race day, and they offered a late checkout so we could rest and recover afterward. The whole team looked after us throughout the stay, with friendly, genuine hospitality that made us feel at home. From the minute we arrived, the care and attention were clear. We had an absolute pleasure staying at RM Guest House and are already looking forward to coming back. Thanks to everyone for making our trip to Setúbal unforgettable. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for great hospitality.
