The host, Manuela, was warm and quick to respond, and chatting with her was fun. She also gave us great restaurant suggestions. Since nobody was booked after us, she was relaxed about checkout and said we could leave whenever. The houses had everything we needed for cooking, though the kettle looked so old I didn’t dare use it. We weren’t there to cook anyway, but to unwind, and the lack of Wi-Fi ended up being a blessing. There were lots of citrus trees in the compound, and we were welcome to pick and eat the fruit. I loved the resident cat and her kittens, as well as the goats, dog, donkey, guinea pigs, mandarin ducks, and other animals. At night, the sky was dark enough for stargazing. It felt like the retreat I didn’t know I needed. For balance, the Wi-Fi never worked despite the host’s best efforts, and there was no internet reception in the house either. It also took a really long time for the shower water to warm up.

The whitewashed homes are beautiful, comfortable, and well furnished. You’re in the countryside, just five minutes from the best beach spots, with plenty to do nearby. A lovely country break for a few days.

This place has a special charm, and the owners have put exquisite care into all the details. We enjoyed every moment. It works for a short escape or a longer holiday, with all the amenities you might need. The houses have full kitchens, and there are different kinds of villas to suit different needs, plus a tipi tent and wooden cabin for anyone wanting to be closer to nature. Breakfast is a whole spread of excellent local products, with lovely details of its own. Having morning coffee on a tree-filled patio, with a mix of sunshine and pleasant shade, was a treat. The food styling and beautiful clutter show the same thoughtful taste. I’ll remember this place as a precious gem in the Alentejo.

A beautiful spot, with great rooms and a lovely host. We loved it for a family getaway, and it would be just as good with friends. Highly recommend.
