Monte da Bemposta Cottage

Heavy rain meant we had to change our hiking plans, and the staff helped us find a new route and drove us to a safer starting point. That kindness made a beautiful stay even better. The room, food, and staff were all wonderful. Highly recommend!

The farm setting is lovely, with animals, landscaped grounds, a pool, outdoor seating, a communal lounge, games, and a small breakfast room or restaurant. It’s a peaceful spot in a beautiful location, and the property has a nice modern look with country touches. It’s a collection of rooms, studios, and bungalows in different buildings rather than one large hotel. We were upgraded from a double room to a nicely done-up studio, which we appreciated. It had its own entrance from the parking area and a little patio looking over the back of the property. We enjoyed our stay, though a few things could be improved. The pillows and curtains need an upgrade, especially the curtains, since the room gets bright very early. The water pressure was the biggest problem, so weak that showering was difficult. Breakfast ingredients were good quality, but the choice felt limited and a bit disappointing for a four-star place. Also, at least in the off-season, you need to plan and book ahead if you want to eat at the restaurant or get a drink, rather than just dropping in.

We spent a lovely week here, the three of us, two adults and a child. Casa dos Aivados was just right for us. Our place had two bedrooms, a small kitchen, a big barbecue and fire pit, and a whirlpool, so it felt luxurious and was a lot of fun. The main house, with the pool and restaurant, was a 15-minute walk away. We also had a private golf cart, which made every ride an adventure for our little one. Sports facilities, a playground, pony rides, and all the animals around the grounds rounded out the stay. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

The breakfasts were ridiculously good, and the staff were amazing. The place and its grounds look like they belong in a movie, with endless amenities. The nearby towns and countryside are quaint and beautiful too. Couldn’t ask for more, and I’ll be back.
