We loved the beautifully landscaped grounds and spent a lot of time on the patio lounge. The place feels magical, with a concierge and what we started calling a breakfast fairy. Each morning, Felipe and his team brought a generous basket with fresh-squeezed juice, bread, cheese, ham, fruit, cereals, yogurt, butter and jam, all arranged in lovely jars, containers and linens. We also got a welcome gift of wine and two local Sintra desserts. The converted chapel is beautifully decorated and spacious, on a lovely residential street. It was an easy five-minute walk to the train, bus, shops and restaurants. Felipe, the manager, greeted us and patiently answered all our questions about getting around Sintra and visiting places in and outside the city. He also kindly arranged a taxi to the airport. We had a solid 10/10 experience and will definitely return to A Capela.

It's quiet and clean, and restaurants are about a 5-10 minute walk away. The chapel setup is an interesting idea, but the bedroom is a loft reached by around 20 steps, while the bathroom is on the ground floor at the opposite end. There are two small electric radiators, but they don't do much with 30-foot ceilings. I doubt there's air conditioning. The listing on Airbnb and Booking.com says there's a dishwasher, but there isn't one. It also says there's heat.
