Happy Holiday Sintra

The location was the only good part for us. It’s a nice-looking holiday house in a pleasant area, about a 30-minute walk to the castle, with an Auchan shop a few minutes away and local restaurants nearby. Inside, though, the house was noisy and the kitchen area was poor, basically nonexistent in winter. The living room was small, and our room was very cold with just one small heater. There was no shower gel, nobody around to tell, and the sheets and pillows were dirty. The owner contacted me through the Booking.com app, but that wasn’t enough. I expected at least basic service, even with Christmas going on. We paid £206 for four nights, plus a local tourist tax of €2 per night. Maybe it works better in summer, when guests aren’t dealing with cold and poor service, but this time of year those problems should be understandable. I didn’t take photos because I just wanted to get to the room as late as possible, leave in the morning, and enjoy the local attractions other tourists had recommended. Please make sure the rooms, corridor, and living room are properly cleaned. Also, guests need to be told to keep quiet at midnight. The noise every night was terrible and showed no respect.

It’s worth planning ahead for payment: they take cash or PayPal, but not cards. We really enjoyed our stay. The place was cozy and the service was great, which made everything even more pleasant.

We had a lovely stay and thought it was great value. The hosts weren’t there in person, but their tech let us check ourselves into a cozy room. It was very clean, nicely decorated, and had happy vibes. The host was friendly and easy to reach, and it’s an easy walk to the cute part of town.

Online, the place looked really nice, but our reservation was cancelled just 24 hours before arrival even though we’d booked more than a month earlier. The email we got was cryptic. When we called, they admitted they’d taken too many bookings and overlooked ours, despite sending us several confirmations from both themselves and Hostelworld. Be cautious before booking here.
