After a long search for a room, apartment, or host at 3 a.m., I booked an expensive hotel myself and left Casalinho da Azenha - Charm House. It cost more than my colleague's and my whole conference trip budget. Later, I found a similar review from someone else who also couldn't check in. Tourists looking for a break outside Lisbon should consider the risks of booking here. My breakfast was eaten by the managers and other guests, and guests who hadn't paid for my room slept in it. I'd booked Casalinho da Azenha - Charm House for four nights, told them when I'd arrive in the city and at the hotel, and got confirmation from the owners and managers that the reservation had gone through and they'd be waiting for me. They said they were happy to host me, which sounds funny now. I was sent directions and told an envelope with my room key would be in the safe that evening. I arrived after 9 p.m., at the agreed time, after traveling 1,000 kilometers, but there was no envelope or key in the safe. Nobody was at reception, the managers were absent, and I couldn't reach them by phone or Booking.com messenger. I couldn't get into my room. I needed a shower, some rest, and time to prepare for an important conference for me and my company. My colleague and I were furious. The conference was large, so every other hotel was full, and nothing was working at this hotel, so we couldn't get food or coffee there either. I contacted Booking.com support that night. After several hours of messages, they said they'd reached the manager, who told them my room had been given to other guests, though there were other rooms available at the hotel. Why not just give me a room and bring me the key? Nobody from Casalinho da Azenha - Charm House contacted me to help sort it out, explain what happened, or even say I should leave. There was only silence and no information. I don't recommend this hotel to visitors to the wonderful city of Lisbon and its suburbs. Look at the many other hotels and apartments instead.
