The chicken dinner was the best I've had in Portugal in my five years here. It was fresh, flavourful, crisp, and cooked just right, with huge portions, so arrive hungry. We even changed our plans to add another night at this hidden gem. The hotel sits high on a hill above the river, with scenic views from some rooms, the bar, and restaurant. In December, low clouds rolling over the river in the morning made us feel as if we were above the world. The host and staff were genuinely caring, friendly, and accommodating with food allergies, and suggested things to do nearby. Our clean room was in perfect working order, with adjustable heat that kept us cozy on sub-zero nights. It had robes, disposable pool slippers, extra towels, lots of closet space, a desk, mini fridge, free WiFi, cable, and a small TV. We also got a brief history of the hotel and area and a small sample of their port wine. Facilities include a gym area with various equipment, an outdoor pool, a small bar with card and domino games, a breakfast room, and a restaurant. The music in the breakfast room, bar, and restaurant was well chosen and at a volume that let us talk quietly.

The superior suite and its views were amazing. There's a pool, bar, and restaurant, plus plenty of parking. They give you free port at check-in. It's worth the drive from Ragua to stay here.

We came from Australia to visit family in Lisbon and loved our stay. The views are breathtaking, and the location is convenient, with tourist attractions and other places not too far away. The staff are welcoming and speak English, and the facilities feel very modern. The restaurant serves lovely food. It had the warmth of a home-cooked meal with the comforts of dining out, wholesome and delicious. The pool and gym are handy extras, and I also enjoyed the bar and breakfast room. I'd happily recommend this beautiful place to anyone.

After touring wineries, it was lovely to come back to a place with such a gorgeous view and everything we needed to relax and feel at home. Our short stay was wonderful. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well appointed, and there's a lovely pool plus a nice restaurant and bar with good food and drinks. Paulo was a welcoming host and gave us great ideas for enjoying the Douro Valley and Porto.

We enjoyed our stay at this family-run bed and breakfast hotel, up at the top of the mountain. Paulo, the owner, really focuses on guests, and his mum is a very good cook. Remember to try their port wine and have dinner there while watching the sunset.
