The Sports Bar is well worth a visit, with fantastic staff and service. The boardwalk and cafes in Cabanas are just a few minutes' walk away.

We were there for my husband's parents' 50th wedding anniversary, and had an absolutely amazing holiday. When we arrived to check in, we found we'd been upgraded to a bigger accommodation, which was incredible. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and housekeeping were lovely too.

We stayed for two months, from February 1 to March 31. The staff were great, and the pool and grounds were very nice. The beach and coffee shops were about a five-minute walk away. The accommodation was a different story: paint peeled from the ceiling and had to be cleaned off the table every day, there was mold on the ceilings and walls, and it was dark, damp and cold. We were told utilities would average an extra €70-€100 a month, so we didn't expect a €563 bill at the end. We were out on day trips every day and also spent eight days away in Porto and Sintra. When we questioned the charge, they said it was correct, but we felt the amount was wrong since it was three times the average they'd quoted.

Built during an architectural transition about 40-50 years ago, this is almost a classic hotel: two-storey houses set side by side around gardens, a pool and other shared spaces. It's quiet and not expensive. Every apartment has a balcony and a small, nicely equipped kitchen.
