AP Cabanas Beach & Nature - Adults Friendly

We came back for a three-night December break after loving our stay at the same time last year. We expected a lot this visit, and it surpassed that. The quiet off-season atmosphere is a big part of why we returned and why we'd come again. Sylvia Gaspan was outstanding in the restaurant, keeping an eye on everyone's needs. The food was delicious and they easily handled my allergy requirements. We also enjoyed the live music and evening drinks. We made use of the spa, where the sauna looks out over the garden; we watched the sun set from there. We hired bikes for the local routes, and walked into Tavira in about an hour, following an easy path over the salt planes.

The staff, from receptionists to waiters and bartenders, are the main reason this gets a 2 from me. Without them, I think I'd give it a 1. We had a good time at the bar, and the bartenders who served us did a great job. The hotel looks impressive online and has lots of amenities. The €10 towel charge is fine since you get the money back when you return the towel. But there were lots of bird droppings in and around the pool, and they need to find a solution. We only ate breakfast there. There was plenty of variety, but it was still a bit disappointing, especially the orange juice, which came from a carton despite all the orange orchards nearby. We wanted to try somewhere new, but I don't think we'll return. We'll go back to our old place.

The outdoor lounge was a really relaxing spot, and the hotel had very nice amenities. The food was good too. It's at the end of the road and parking lot, so just keep driving. There's a small grocery store nearby.

The food was some of the best I've had, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The place is immaculately clean and tidy, with a large outdoor pool and a rooftop pool and lounge overlooking the estuary and sea. Rio Formosa is only four minutes away, a very peaceful tidal river estuary. It's tranquil here, with no disco. We were so glad to find this hotel. There were no negatives for us, and though we'll be sad to leave, we'll definitely return.
