Casa Camaleon

Lola was a wonderful host, and the place was great for switching off and relaxing. It’s CLOSED INDEFINITELY now. She’s since opened Borda D'Agua @bordadagua.15 by the river in Tavira. The views are unbeatable, the food is spectacular, and there’s an outdoor terrace and sometimes live music. Really good vibes. Check out her Instagram.

It's tucked away from the crowds, so it's very peaceful and a lovely spot if you want some quiet. The room was basic but comfortable, with a good bed, a charming bathroom, and everything was spotless and well cared for. Breakfast was simple, just coffee or tea, toast, butter, and little tapas. The owner was incredibly kind and attentive. I'd keep this place in mind for another visit.

For €100 a night, I found the room shockingly dirty and neglected. There was dust everywhere, cobwebs that looked years old, and they hadn't swept under the bed or across the room. The mosquito net was broken, with a vegetable patch beside it being watered at night, so we got bitten all over, which wasn't surprising. I've never stayed somewhere dirtier, and I wouldn't come back. Think very carefully before booking; I don't expect anything good. I've attached photos of the dirt.

The owner was warm and genuinely welcoming, with a lot of humanity. The peaceful atmosphere, service, and accommodations give the place a special charm, and I left feeling an inner calm. Highly recommended.
