Convento Das Bernardas by My Choice

We had a perfect three-bedroom apartment on the ground floor, and our host was absolutely fantastic. The place is ideally located and has an amazing swimming pool.

The apartment is pleasantly furnished, but there’s no terrace or access to the outdoors. In the main courtyard, the oversized pool was empty and the rest of the space felt unused, which was a bit disappointing. A small cafe could be a good idea. It’s an unusual setting in a completely refurbished old convent near Tavira’s lovely old centre.

A calm, soothing place to escape the hectic, touristy Algarve summer. The saltwater pool is beautiful, and the apartments are amazing and very high quality. It’s only a few minutes on foot from Tavira centre and the well-known local saltworks. I’d highly recommend it for the architecture and overall quality.

The main drawback is the parking spaces, which are far too small for regular family cars. Inside, though, it’s a cosy place, with a large saltwater pool that’s great for families. It’s a 16th-century building converted mainly into rental apartments, restored by the famous architect Eduardo Souto Moura.
