Quinta dos Perfumes

The homemade cakes at breakfast were amazing, and I’m sorry I forgot to ask for the recipes. We ate on the outdoor terrace, with fresh orange juice, and enjoyed the saltwater pool among the orange trees. The grounds and farm are beautiful and peaceful, and everything is thoughtfully designed and well maintained. We spent three relaxing days and nights here. The staff did so much to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Thanks for everything!

The setting among the orange groves is lovely, and breakfast was good. The staff were friendly, eager to help and accommodating. We had room 8, which felt a little small for a couple, and it was the room most exposed to the occasional train passing just metres away. The mix of an agricultural business and a luxury hotel didn’t work well for us. On our last day, with no warning, a giant bulldozer started noisily flattening the dry field opposite, which belongs to the hotel owners. It began at 07:30 and went on for most of the day, bringing diesel fumes and clouds of dust. Breakfast outdoors was affected, and we couldn’t relax in our terrace room or even leave the doors open. The hotel apologized, but the response felt inadequate: they offered a bottle of wine as compensation. I can only assume they’re content to charge the full price whatever a guest’s experience is. We didn’t feel we’d had a four-star stay worth €270 a night, and wouldn’t risk coming back.

The location is very good and the pool is great. Breakfast was good, though I would have liked more variety. The studio terraces have no view, which is a shame. The women on staff were always cheerful and very friendly. I can’t say the same about the one male staff member, who seemed like he didn’t enjoy his job.

The garden full of orange trees is so relaxing, and breakfast was very good with fresh products. What really stood out was how warmly the whole team looked after us. They’re incredibly nice and went out of their way to make us feel at home. A wonderful little hotel, strongly recommended.
