There’s a lovely rooftop terrace for watching the stars, and the self-service pool bar is right beside the swimming pool. The hotel is peaceful, about seven minutes by car from restaurants, and a reasonable distance from Faro. The rooms were very clean and breakfast was delicious. When we arrived, the extremely friendly owner showed us around the facilities and told us the hotel’s history. There are also two Type-2 charging stations for electric vehicles in the parking area. I highly recommend Villa Lobos if you’re after a quiet hotel in southern Portugal.

You’ll need your own transport, as this boutique hotel is 15 minutes from Sta Luzia or Tavira. It’s beautifully put together and very well built, having been reconstructed from an old farmhouse. The staff are the real jewels of the place: Sara, Ines, Joana and others whose names I didn’t catch.

The grounds are expansive, with olive, fig, persimmon and orange trees. There’s a self-service bar where you can get drinks anytime, and while the pool isn’t for swimming laps, it’s perfectly adequate. The decor is tasteful, sourced from local businesses, and the rooms are lovely with incredibly comfortable box-spring beds. Sarah provided wonderful service, making breakfast each morning and happily sharing information and recommendations. A dreamy place to relax. We’d love to come back, hopefully soon!

The sea view from this former farm is lovely. We were welcomed so warmly, and had a spacious, spotless room and a really good breakfast. There’s also a pool and a self-service bar outside. It’s all set up for a peaceful, comfortable stay, and a great base for seeing southern Portugal.

We stumbled on this place during an August weekend and had a great time. The beds were comfortable, and the whole staff were so friendly. It’s close to Tavira and the beaches, while still being a nice spot to enjoy some quiet.
