Our room was comfortable, and the views from it were fabulous. It’s a stunning place to stay. The drawback for us was that we couldn’t pay by card, and there’s no way to enter without ringing the front doorbell. We were there for five nights for the Parades de Coura music festival, and some nights we didn’t get back until 3 a.m. Ringing for access at that hour felt uncomfortable and inconvenient for everyone.

We were welcomed with a warm cup of tea in a room that felt like a palace, with wonderful views over the river. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and breakfast was fantastic. Casa do Poço is a lovely place for a longer stay or a good rest while cycling the Camino, which is what we were doing. Thank you, Ana and Jorge, for making us feel at home and for being such great hosts. We hope to stay with you again!

This felt like a pretentious place to stay. They charge €100 for a Deluxe double room with a balcony, which the owner calls a “suite,” then breakfast brings the total to €120. What makes a stay enjoyable is the attention to basics: the bed, sheets, towels, bathroom, and lighting. Those details fell short here, and even the Wi-Fi was poor. They have two networks, but both worked terribly. For that price, I’d choose the Posada or the Parador de Tui.
