The house sits on a huge property and has a pool, and it’s very nice, but the condition of several things spoiled the stay. We came a week ago with friends hoping to spend time together at the house, but some bedrooms had no wardrobe, shelves, or other storage. We also found insecticide behind the beds, which felt dangerous with small children around. Some showers couldn’t be used. In the kitchen, the dishwasher didn’t work, the sink wouldn’t drain and flooded, and the oven caught fire when we tried using it. These may seem like small problems, but together they really lowered the quality of the house.

A localização é excelente, mas alguns quartos só tinham água fria porque o aquecimento da água era deficiente. The kitchen had little ventilation, and the house was hot with no air conditioning. There were fans to cool things down, but they were very noisy. The internet and television were very poor.

The owner was attentive and understanding, and I have nothing to complain about him. It’s a great place to get away from daily life and enjoy time with friends. I’m not giving it five stars because some parts of the house need attention, but overall it was perfect!

I live nearby, but somehow I’ve never visited Valença do Minho or its fortress, both of which are well worth seeing. This is a well regarded, typical Minho style house with a pool, set in the lush green countryside of northern Portugal near the Spanish border, about 20 km from Vigo and 100 km from Santiago de Compostela.

A lovely place to switch off from everyday life and spend time with family or friends without worrying about what’s going on outside. In October, you can pick tangerines and chestnuts across the huge estate. The person who welcomes you on arrival is charming.
