Casas do Corvo

We were meant to stay two nights but left after one because of the issues below. Of the three houses at this accommodation, I really wouldn't recommend the main house. It's large, spacious and has a porch at the back with a spectacular view, but there are quite a few downsides. The rustic decor feels dated and, as it's arranged now, isn't very inviting. There are three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, but the bathroom for the room I chose had no hot water. There's no air conditioning, so we would have had to open all the windows. There are lots of mosquitoes in the area, and to our dismay we found a snake on the porch at night. We were lucky to have kept everything shut; otherwise it could have got inside, and it might or might not have been venomous. The porch also opens directly onto the street, as one of the photos shows, so anyone can come in without supervision. There weren't any basic food items such as salt, olive oil or vinegar, and although there was a coffee machine, there were no capsules. At 150€ a night, the price doesn't match the quality. There are hotels at that price with better conditions. We also got no welcome or instructions from the host about entering the house. Another family who regularly spends holidays there had to help us get in.

The road to the house was in poor shape, unpaved and full of holes. We didn't get a welcome from the host, there were lots of ants, and the place wasn't clean.

The access road feels a bit daunting the first time, but it gets easy after that. The house is lovely, in a beautiful spot with a great view and a very good pool. The facilities are good too, though the mattresses need replacing because they're a little uncomfortable.

I'm talking about the three-bedroom house. Every room has its own bathroom, but there's no heating, so I think it would be cold in winter. The living room is nice for spending time together, with a fireplace and a good view.
