We went four straight days without hot water in our room after a boiler problem, and the hotel handled it very poorly. I complained at reception every day and asked for a fair adjustment because we weren’t willing to pay the full price in those circumstances. Each time, I was told the manager wasn’t available. At checkout, staff promised the manager would email us with a resolution. More than two weeks later, we still hadn’t heard anything. That failure to follow through was awful customer service. There were other serious problems too. The hotel is dated and poorly maintained, there was moldy toast at the breakfast buffet, and the soundproofing was so poor that we could clearly hear every guest walking and talking in the corridors. Calling this a four-star hotel is a joke. Pay a little more and book somewhere better maintained and functional.

The location was fabulous, the staff very helpful, and there was free parking outside. The price was fair, though the hotel felt a little tired. We enjoyed our stay and I’d come back.

The view was amazing, the breakfast great, and the staff were excellent and friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were large, with enclosed balconies overlooking the ocean, and the pool water was warm. Still, I understand the other reviews now that I’ve stayed here. I’d been to the Golden Tulip in Vitoria, Brazil several times and it’s probably my favorite hotel, but this one doesn’t come close. It could be a five-star experience if the owner invested in it. The hotel is badly dated and needs a major face-lift. The gym and sauna area were very dirty and smelled bad, and the small, noisy elevator could be heard in every room. There weren’t enough towels, and there’s no wheelchair access to the lobby. There isn’t much around besides the beach, and it’s hard to get to the hotel without a car. There’s no store in the hotel or nearby for snacks or drinks. I wouldn’t say I had a bad experience at all, but it’s a shame to see so much potential go to waste. Golden Tulip needs to invest in this hotel because it really could be amazing.

The seafront access and quiet area were the big positives for me. The facilities, on the other hand, feel very old, like they’re from the 80s, and the gym isn’t equipped. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.

The service was very good, and the hotel is lovely, though it feels a little tired. The location might be nice in summer, but felt a bit remote in winter.
