Gran Cruz Apartments

The quiet morning breakfast on the terrace, overlooking the Douro River, was a highlight. It was delicious and made to order, and the helpful, friendly staff even packed breakfast for our early departure. The hotel is full of charm, with large comfortable rooms and lovely design. The views of the river are spectacular, and the room itself is just as beautiful. My only gripe was the buskers along the river in the evening. They were often louder than they were talented, and the volume carried through the double-pane windows. At least they stopped promptly at 10:00, and that was no fault of the hotel.

We only spent one night at Gran Cruz House, but the staff made it memorable with their warm, attentive service. Our RUBY room was cozy and tastefully decorated, with a feel that suited the city. The location in the heart of Porto was hard to beat, and the river views were beautiful. There was some nighttime noise from the busy streets below, though we took it as part of the lively atmosphere and it didn't spoil our stay. Breakfast overlooking the river was great. Be sure to reserve a table at their restaurant, Casario, for good food and a fantastic view. We'd love to return for longer.

The hotel was clean and nicely appointed, with a pleasant room and a great spot right on the water. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nearby restaurants stay open late, so outside was a bit noisy on our first night, though the shutters blocked quite a lot. The restaurant food was tasty, even if the dinner and breakfast menus were a little limited. We enjoyed the complimentary bottle of port in the room too. The building is compact, so even a few people in the lobby make it feel cramped. I'd stay again if I were in the area.

The staff made my stay even better, and this is the best possible location in Porto. After I left, I realized my passport was still in the room. Bruno arranged to have it delivered personally to my hotel in Sintra. I couldn't be happier with how everything went.
