Je T'aime Porto Sweet Rooms

The supermarket across the street and the nice location were the only good parts for me. The photos don't show the bedbugs or the landlord's awful manner. I started getting strange bites soon after moving in, and it turned out to be bedbugs. My housemate in the next room had them too, as did another traveler who stayed one night in a different room. Maybe someone brought them in, but the whole house could also be infested, especially given the other reviews reporting the same problem. The landlord kept blaming us and didn't want to deal with it. I still had to sleep four nights on a single bed in the same room before I could move to another room while mine was cleaned. I was bitten again and saw bedbugs on that first night, even though my backpack, clothes, and everything else had been cleaned. When I asked for the single bed again, I was made to keep sleeping in the infected bed. After I left, they tried to keep part of my deposit, saying I had gone too soon. That had already been discussed with the landlord, so that claim was nonsense. After ignoring me and the situation for a while, the man spent a 30-minute call trying to make me feel guilty, calling me selfish and saying I only cared about money. There was no room to discuss it. We eventually settled on a compromise, and he agreed as soon as I suggested it. He talks endlessly and is very deceptive. Please don't stay here.

BEDBUGS here, and I've got bites all over my body. Other people had the same experience. The owner knows about the problem but still lets people stay in the rooms, won't answer messages, and hasn't offered any help or even an apology. Please find somewhere else to stay.

The cleaning woman helped me get into the apartment and had everything set up when I arrived. Her English wasn't great, but I got by with my broken Portuguese. The other guests staying there then were open and easygoing, which made the whole experience even better. It was inexpensive, clean, and close to the center.

The renovation looks great, and the staff are really nice. But the door has no rubber insulation, so you can hear all your neighbors' conversations and romantic moments, and they'll hear yours. You'll also know what they're up to, like loud music at 7 am. The room could use some paint, and the cracked drywall needs work. I'd give it 3.5.
