Oh! Porto Apartments

We stopped by for a drink on the terrace bar on a Tuesday afternoon and had the whole quiet spot to ourselves, even though the city was bustling. The women working there were friendly, and the service was great. Prices were very reasonable, and the river views were lovely.

The staff were pleasant and accommodating. After I mentioned that I’m vegan, they added more vegan items to the breakfast basket, which arrived each morning. We did wonder whether the food we didn’t eat was going to waste. The room had a kitchenette with a mini fridge, though its narrow shape made the layout awkward, and my partner and I kept bumping into the bed corner. It was also quite dark, with little natural light and no ceiling lights, which may be why there was mould on the ceiling. The place is within walking distance of the Douro River restaurants, market stands, and wine cellars, but the hills are tough, especially with large luggage. The metro runs right above the hotel, and there don’t seem to be double-glazed windows, so it can get noisy. Earplugs worked for me, though. We stayed three nights.

Our studio at Oh Porto was clean, spacious, and open-plan, with a stunning view of the Dom Luis Bridge. Having a glass of wine before bed and looking out at it was a real treat. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was more than enough for the three of us: fresh squeezed orange juice, bread, croissants, yogurt, fruit, and plenty more. I’d like to stay here again next time I visit Porto.

We could easily walk to the main attractions from these nicely decorated apartments. The service and care were excellent, and the location and views were very nice, with a view toward the bridge and riverside.
