Pousada Vila Real Santo Antonio

The hotel is a small boutique-style property, professionally run and very well kept. Its quiet, clean rooms are comfortable, there’s a cozy pool, and breakfast has a satisfying selection. It had what we needed for an easy, relaxing stay. The setting is special, with the Atlantic on one side and the calm Guadiana River and views toward Spain on the other. Vila Real de Santo António feels peaceful yet lively, with welcoming local life, traditional bars, cafés, and good restaurants. There’s also a charming fishing port and a riverfront marina. Faro, Olhão, and Tavira are easy drives away and make worthwhile day trips. I’d spend plenty of time in Vila Real de Santo António itself to take in the scenery and its Portuguese character.

We only ate dinner at the restaurant and didn’t stay at the hotel. The menu is small, with some unusual flavors, especially on the pizzas, and the kitchen did a great job with the dishes. Prices are a little high, but the food made them worthwhile. The goat cheese on the excellent focaccia starter was especially good, and the pizza was great too. Service was attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend.

Nicole and the whole team were friendly and attentive throughout, making the holiday feel especially relaxing. Nicole welcomed us warmly, upgraded our room, and suggested local restaurants and a sunset boat trip that were both perfect. Our spacious room looked out onto the square, and the Pestana is surrounded by restaurants and shops. Everyone there helped make the stay unforgettable.

We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and felt very well looked after. The Pousada Vila Real de San Antonio is exceptionally clean, with professional, friendly, attentive staff. Its location is ideal for exploring the quaint town, and everything is flat, with no hills to climb, which is helpful for anyone with limited mobility. A truly delightful hotel that I’d highly recommend. Thank you.
