Residencial Encontro

It’s a traditional, modest guesthouse, so book with that in mind. We had some mix-ups when booking by phone about the number of nights, prices, and beds for two LGBTQ+ couples. I’d suggest booking online, especially if this is the only place available, as it was for us. The Wi-Fi in our second-floor bedroom was poor despite being right by the modem. The location is very central, breakfast was very good, and the snack bar staff were lovely.

We only ate at the restaurant, not the hotel. By about 1:30 in the afternoon the lone waiter, covering both the terrace and inside, already seemed worn out and there were no daily specials left. He tried to seat us outside, but service was still poor. The food came cold and at different times, and we had to keep getting up to ask at the counter for water and bread. The tuna salad included rice, which the menu didn’t mention, while the chickpea salad had hardly any chickpeas.

For a cheap stay, the small room above a bar was fine, with a lovely view over the old town and fountain. The service was nice, breakfast was good, and everything was super clean. No complaints.

The staff were really friendly, but nights were so noisy. We could hear everything in the rooms beside us, even snoring. If you’re a light sleeper, this place probably isn’t for you.
