The furnishings are beautiful, and there’s a lovely little wine bar downstairs. I had a very comfortable stay, and the staff were friendly and cultured. Breakfast had nice fresh fruit, but the healthier choices beyond that were lacking. In a country with such good produce, I wish they’d offered sliced tomato alongside the cheese, cured meat and sugary jams.

Breakfast was good, and the staff serving it spoke several languages. This hotel has a rather staid feel, with mostly older independent travelers staying there. Its owner, who runs an antique shop, has filled it with old furniture and art, giving it plenty of old-fashioned charm. Parking nearby can be tricky, though you might get lucky and find a space right outside.

The staff and breakfast were both wonderful. The house itself is gorgeous, with an amazing view from the room, a beautiful ceiling, and little pieces of history wherever you look. Such a special stay in an 18th-century house. Visit 😍
