Monte do Papa Léguas - Turismo Rural

I usually love staying right in the centre, but this peaceful spot just outside town made me so happy. The grounds and pool are gorgeous and relaxing, and the staff were lovely. Our room was a charming converted stable, with modern facilities and lots of character. Breakfast was delicious, with great vegetarian options. Honestly Bar was a nice touch, and a taxi into town cost only five euro. They even offer hikers a free lift into town after breakfast.

Breakfast was perfect, with a delicious buffet, and the rooms had a kettle and coffee machine. When reception is closed, you can take something from the bar and write down what you’ve had. The place is beautiful, comfortable and very clean, in a quiet area about 2 km from the city centre along a main road. That location has its downside, but when the hotel manager saw us setting off, he kindly offered us a ride. The receptionist was also arranging transport for other guests and immediately offered to include us. I’d come back in a heartbeat. This is exactly how accommodation and service should be.

The service made our stay especially lovely. Diogo was always ready to help with anything we needed and went above and beyond. The hotel is cozy and charming, and breakfast, made in-house, was a delight. Each morning we heard birds singing outside our window, and the whole atmosphere was incredibly peaceful. It was a wonderful discovery and by far the best vacation we’ve had in a long time. We’re already dreaming of coming back!

We spent one night here on our Fishermen’s Trail hike. It’s about a mile outside town, but the walk was well worth it. The hosts were excellent, welcoming and attentive without overdoing it. Breakfast was complete and excellent, there’s an honour bar in the courtyard, and the swimming pool was beautiful and clean.
