La Grappa

Really good.

The pool and the whole hotel were spotless, and it’s right in the center of Altos, near pharmacies, supermarkets, and restaurants. There’s a nice barbecue area, a gym, secure parking, good Wi-Fi everywhere, Claro cable TV, and a full breakfast is included. They also have an accessible entrance from the rear parking lot. The parking isn’t covered, though, and there’s no restaurant for lunch or dinner, which is inconvenient if you planned to stay in. Drinks are kept locked in a fridge by the pool, so you have to ask the attendant whenever you want one. I’ve stayed here twice and would absolutely come back. The host was especially kind both times, the rooms are comfortable, and there’s a refrigerator in the room that would be handy to stock with drinks. On my latest stay, room 01 was so large that its air conditioner struggled to cool it. The receptionist lent us a fan, which helped a lot.

We liked how simple and cozy the place felt, with lovely greenery, clean surroundings, and a very reasonable price. Mr. Peter and the rest of the staff were attentive, and breakfast was plentiful. My wife and I had a very good stay and I’d happily visit again.

The owner is quite a character, German by origin, and speaks a mix of Portuguese, Spanish, and German. This is the best hotel in this lovely, charming little town in Paraguay’s interior. The place is very pleasant and offers great value. The town’s main church is definitely worth a visit.
