Hotel Bohemia

The food was good, and the reception lady was kind and helpful, especially when we asked to change rooms. We booked several rooms for the family for one night, but most had a bad sewer smell. It was especially strong on the second floor. There’s no elevator, and the hotel is near commercial train tracks. The odor is the reason I gave it only two stars.

The staff might have offered us a room facing the other way, but I didn’t catch that in time. We were on the west side, facing the street, and traffic went by day and night, including quite a lot of big trucks, so sleeping was harder. Aside from the room location, everything was very good. I’ll probably come back, but stay on the other side.

We weren’t told in advance about a party at the hotel, but it went on with loud music until 3 am. Our room was right above the restaurant where it was happening. We contacted management several times and were promised a refund, then offered less than half the amount in the morning. When we objected, we were told parties in Romania usually go until 5 am and that we shouldn’t complain. The whole experience was unacceptable, and I don’t recommend this hotel.

The breakfast was good quality, though there weren’t many choices. The restaurant is quite pricey, and it has outdoor serving areas. There’s secured parking, but the surroundings aren’t very walk friendly. Trucks pass along the noisy street beneath the windows late into the night. Also, whenever someone entered the floor, the automatic door mechanism slammed and sent a gust of air that moved our wooden room door. It felt like someone was trying to break in, which was scary.
