Apartment Family Rivulus

Hotel Rivulus was a convenient, pleasant stop during my travels through Romania. I stayed there in September while touring the country's beautiful scenery and historic towns. Baia Mare is a charming city in the northwest, and the hotel had cozy rooms and amazing, friendly staff. A good place to rest while on the move.

The room was large and clean, and the hotel was quiet during my stay. The price was GREAT, and there's plenty of shopping nearby. Parking is a little tricky, but the staff will explain it and show you where to go. It's also not too far from the Happy Cemetery, or Merry Cemetery, so if you're nearby, you gotta see it. I'd happily stay a few more nights.

The city centre location is convenient, with parking nearby, and the hotel is accessible by wheelchair and by private or public transport. The rooms were clean and a good size, but mine smelled of tobacco even though smoking indoors isn't allowed, and they need some updating. The lobby staff were helpful. Kitchen staff looked unhappy and sleepy, as if they didn't want to be up early. Breakfast wasn't good: mass-produced old bread, no black tea and artificial juices. I stayed four nights and didn't eat breakfast there again after the first day. This is based on other three-star hotels I've visited.

The hotel is dated and old, and the staff weren't very attentive. I'd only use it if there was nothing else available.
