Castel Transilvania

We came for a wedding and had such a lovely stay at Castel Transilvania. Paul deserves a special mention for letting the kids use the pool and making me a fantastic cocktail that wasn't on the menu. Everyone we met, from housekeeping and the bar to reception, was so welcoming. We'd definitely recommend the hotel and hope to return.

We spent most of our time enjoying Castel Transilvania, even though it's just a short walk into town. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the whole team was helpful and friendly, from reception and housekeeping to the restaurant and bar. Definitely recommend it.

We had family and friends come over from the UK for our wedding, and the hotel took such good care of us. They made everyone feel at home. I stayed a couple of nights too. Thank you to all the staff.

We only went for the New Year's party, so I can't say anything about the rooms or other amenities. The staff and service were great, but getting there is awkward: it's far from the city center, and you'd need a car or taxi since there's nothing within walking distance. The food was mostly nothing special. The fish plate stood out a bit, but the last plate and the cake were bland, and many guests sent them back to the kitchen. Music was the bigger problem for me. There was far too much local folklore, and plenty of times nobody was dancing. The DJ was good despite playing old tunes, though a YouTube playlist of newer dance music can be more inspiring than a local DJ, at least much of the time. If you haven't traveled much, maybe you'd enjoy it. The man singing all night seemed to be enjoying himself, but his performances made it feel more like karaoke than a New Year's party, and barely anyone danced. The popular music singer didn't get much response either. Most guests danced to the DJ's old songs, which felt like the communist era. Next time, I'd suggest fewer live folklore songs and some popular dancers for a couple of dances. I remember a great New Year's party at Magus with different shows, an open bar, and great food, but the following years were bad too. There aren't many choices in this forgotten city, which seems to be going downhill.
