Having morning coffee on the rooftop or terrace and watching the Danube wind toward the Black Sea was my favorite part. We first fell for Casa lui Matei on our first stay and have returned every year since it opened. It’s always sparkling clean, the hosts are kind and friendly, and the homemade food is EXCELLENT!! I was impressed to find out they make everything from scratch and grow their own food. So glad we found this gem in the Danube Delta!

Maria takes such good care of the guests and suggests great tours that start right outside the hotel. Dinner is lovingly made and incredibly tasty, especially the world-class fish dishes. The hotel itself is modern, quiet, and incredibly beautiful, with a view over the Danube Delta. I can absolutely recommend it, and we’ll definitely be back!
