Casa Transilvania

We didn’t feel very welcome, and the owner wasn’t friendly or helpful. She was quite aggressive with us over the simple fact that we hadn’t followed the check-in time: we arrived early while she was busy with the rooms in the house, and we disturbed her.

There was no staff around during our vacation, and basics like hygiene products and changed towels were missing. The rooms were okay but a bit outdated. The owner’s hospitality left a lot to be desired. Check-out was at 11, and when we still had our luggage at 11:02, she called us insensitive and ill-mannered for being two minutes late. She said she’d throw our bags into the street if we didn’t leave right then, told us to forget her guesthouse, and threatened that we’d have to pay for another night over the minor delay.

The room was spotless, and its place in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains made it beautiful. We arrived three hours late and couldn’t let the lady know because of a phone problem, but she waited patiently and still welcomed us kindly and discreetly. We felt at home. I hope she sees this review: I want her to know that room will always stay in my heart, since that’s where I received my marriage proposal. I hope we can return for our anniversary.

The terrace overlooking the mountain was lovely for a quiet coffee or a book, and the guesthouse’s inner courtyard had a relaxing feel too. Fresh air and the superb mountain view made the stay memorable. Casa Transilvania Guesthouse is modern and charming, and right in the heart of Brasov, with all kinds of things to do just a few steps away: explore the Old Center’s narrow historic streets, visit the History Museum, the Art Museum, or the First Romanian School Museum, eat at restaurants and terraces serving traditional food, shop at the Council Square shops and fairs, take the cable car to Tampa, or see the Black Church. From the moment we arrived, the host, a wonderful lady, greeted us warmly and made sure we had what we needed to feel at home. Our room for three was spacious, spotless, fresh-smelling, and tastefully decorated. It had high quality bed linen, very comfortable beds, a roomy, clean bathroom with everything we needed, a minibar, and air conditioning that worked perfectly. We didn’t really need the air conditioning, since the room stays quite cool in summer. We also enjoyed the peace and privacy. I had an impeccable experience and highly recommend it for an authentic stay, great price, and near-luxury conditions. I’ll gladly return whenever I get the chance to visit beautiful Brașov.
