The terrace was a nice place to sit, but the meal was a letdown, especially for the price. The beef was dry and tough, with hardly any seasoning or flavor. Shredded potatoes had a decent texture, but the plate still tasted bland. The white herb sauce was watery and didn’t add enough moisture or flavor to make up for the meat.

We had a hearty veal stew and goulash soup at this lovely bistro in Brasov’s old town. The flavors were excellent, and the meat was very lean. The cheese plate came with a wonderful whole grain loaf, and even the tea was excellent. Service was prompt and courteous, and our server helped us choose what to order.

At Pilvax, we started with the heritage tomato salad, then had the dumplings and chicken with potatoes and spinach. Rhubarb cake and drunken pear were a lovely finish, and our server paired the meal with wine. Everything was exceptional. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and seamless. We’d definitely come back if we were staying in Brasov longer.

On my latest trip to Brasov, we spotted this place while checking the menu and found two fully vegan choices: lentil and veggie loaf, plus mushroom barley risotto. Both were delicious, perfectly seasoned, and fairly priced. Mustata beer from a local brewery was a tasty, rich bonus. The service was friendly, and the guy who might have been the owner was so warm. His passion for the restaurant really came through in our short chat. Maybe it’s been around a while, but it was new to me.
