Hotel Belvedere

The best thing here is how clean the hotel is, and how quiet it stays. Those matter most to me when I’m staying somewhere, and you get both for a good price. A good hotel.

We won’t be coming back. The internet was so slow that Netflix wouldn’t load, and the air conditioning kept blowing hot air even when set to 17 or 18 degrees. The TV remote didn’t work either. We were told the spa and pool stayed open until 11 pm, but when we went down at 9, we were told they were closed. The phone in the room didn’t work, and reception never picked up despite me trying for ages. To top it off, there was poo on the toilet seat and in the bowl. This place is a joke, I’m sorry to say.

It’s clean and quiet, but it sits up on a hill. Getting back from the city center means climbing 250 stairs :-) The hotel is about 20 minutes from the center.

The pool was a real plus: full-size, pleasant, and not crowded, though you do need a swimming cap. The wet and dry saunas were well kept too. Parking was busy, but I always managed to find a spot. The hotel has a post-communist feel, but the rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable, and the views are stunning. Towels and bathrobes are included, the shower curtain even looked fresh or brand new, and both the heating and AC worked as they should. It’s conveniently located. The main downside was the reception staff, who came across as negative and reactive, and were sometimes unpleasant.
