Hotel Beyfin

We were first put in a small room with no shower, just a high tub that was hard to climb into. We’d been offered an upgraded room for an extra 50%, and after complaining two days later, we were moved to one. The location is great and breakfast was excellent, though the rooms were dark.

The rooftop was under construction, which was a real disappointment since I’d been looking forward to the view. Still, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, greeting you with big smiles. Breakfast was great, English was spoken well, and the location is very good, close to everything. Can highly recommend it!

Breakfast and the location are excellent, and the price is good for what you get. The front desk service was adequate, though it didn’t leave much of an impression. I’d really wanted to like this place. It’s perfectly adequate, but there’s quite a bit of misleading information. The rooms shown as bright and beautiful are very dark, even with all the lights on. I chose the hotel partly for the rooftop and views, but the rooftop bar is closed for construction, and there’s work going on in the lobby too. Unfortunately, none of that is mentioned on the website.

The hotel is beautiful and centrally located near the historic centre. We were upgraded to a suite with an amazing view of the large church and the lovely fountain out front. Breakfast was very good too, with lots of choices, including traditional Romanian food. But I was very disappointed by the service. We’d selected parking when booking, so the staff knew we were driving. Many streets were blocked for a national celebration, and although the staff knew about it, they gave us no directions for reaching the parking lot, which could only be accessed from the closed streets. After more than an hour driving around, we found a paid spot near the hotel. Apparently, they expected us to know we could drive around barricades and go the wrong way down one-way streets to get to their parking. Later, when we did get into the lot after dinner, we found there was no lift, so we had to drag our suitcases up the stairs. Nobody offered to help as we struggled, either then or when we checked out. I suspected the upgrade was because of our obvious trouble getting to the hotel, but it didn’t make up for the experience.
