Cara Apartment 5 min walk to the train station

The cancellation came just days before our trip, on 29.06.2024. The property said Booking had made an error and apologized, hoping we had found somewhere else, but with Neversea that weekend we couldn't find anything we liked at a reasonable price. I still can't say for sure whose fault it was, though the November call asking me to pay the full amount months early felt very suspicious. I had booked through Booking in September 2023 for 4-8 July 2024, with free cancellation until 2 July. In November, someone from Cara apartments called saying the apartment was already booked and asking me to cancel. When I refused, he said they had two apartments, this one was free, but it was small and wouldn't fit four people. I explained we were a couple, and he said that was fine, then asked if I could pay the full amount right then. That advance payment wasn't listed in the booking terms, so I ended the call without paying. They called again in early 2024, apparently thinking I'd cancelled. I told them I hadn't and planned to come as booked. On 26.06.2024 they contacted me with the same assumption, and I called back to confirm once more that I had not cancelled.

The owners were very attentive, and the apartment itself is lovely: new, roomy and clean, in a quiet area. There's an elevator in the building. Two good restaurants are nearby, and Kaufland and Lidl are a 7-8 minute walk away. The bus stop is right outside.
