EDENS Residence

We found the apartment clean and spacious, and it had an iron, hair dryer, and washing machine. The beach is close, there's a shop downstairs open until midnight, and several places to eat nearby. We booked two apartments for three nights for our group of seven. At check-in, an older woman greeted us with “shhh.” There was no cleaning or towel change during our stay. Being near the beach meant sand in the rooms and bathrooms, and the towels were never changed. The listing mentioned a terrace, but what we got was a balcony for two. We also didn't receive a receipt, invoice, or any kind of tax receipt. At the end of the trip, we were waiting outside for taxis to the train station when the woman came out angrily, shouting that we should unpack because we'd stolen towels from one apartment and that she would call the police. She kept suspecting us, and the situation got so out of control that we wanted to call the police and consumer protection ourselves. The towels were in the room, unchanged throughout the stay, despite the hot seaside weather and all the showering. She later came back to apologize, saying she'd had many incidents like this and blaming various minorities. Her racist, defiant, mocking, insensitive attitude reminded me of accommodation owners all along the Romanian coast. We didn't feel bad overall, and we were a group of educated, civilized girls and boys with aspirations to civilization. But these events are worth reporting so people understand that this toxic way of thinking only brings disadvantages.
