Cabane de lemn

We were 10 people, staying from August 19-24, 2023. We found the accommodation on booking and reserved by speaking directly with the host. At 124 lei per person per night, the price seemed acceptable for the resort and time of year. We arrived at 3 pm and were told there had been a mix-up: the rooms we’d booked for the first night had already been rented out, despite our reservation having been made more than a month earlier. Mrs. Eleonora offered us other rooms for the first night at no charge, two rooms for four people and one for two, even though we’d booked five double rooms and had a few couples in the group. With no other option, we accepted. A friend traveling separately had also booked a different cabin, but that wasn’t available either. The hostess offered him a baby cot so he could sleep in one of the cabins given to our group. It took a lot of insistence and a few hours before he got the cot, as she didn’t bring it when we arrived. He barely fit in it. The cabins are tiny and have no air conditioning or fan, so the heat was unbearable. Some bathrooms had no towels, and some had no soap. The stove didn’t work, and the kitchen was poorly equipped. The bathrooms are small, with only a curtain separating the shower from the rest, no proper shower cabin. The garden is beautiful but has no lighting. The place has potential, but needs a lot of improvement. The hostess was nice in that she didn’t charge us for the first night, but we’d rather have paid and avoided the mess from the start.

We were the only guests at the end of the season, spending three days in a little bungalow surrounded by a beautiful garden that was clearly cared for with love. Eleonora, the hostess, was such a sweetheart. When we arrived, she welcomed us with plăcinte (a kind of flatbread), grilled meat skewers, and apple pie because she was having a private party. She even baked extra plăcinte just for us when we left. We felt really comfortable there.

The host was very confusing and made lots of promises. Every day during our stay, she said she’d help us with shopping. The accommodation had plenty of problems: my friends’ room had a broken doorknob, the bathroom doors wouldn’t close, and the lock on our bathroom was on the outside, meaning someone could lock a person in there. There was no way to get much privacy.

I never expected to find such a peaceful little haven in Romania, with no malice around. The place was spotless and tastefully arranged, and the stay really stood out. The host and her helpers were all so attentive and helpful. I hope more visitors from abroad come and leave with a good impression of our country ♥️ Thank you for the loveliest stay I've had in four years.
