Hotel Helin Central

The sewage smell in both rooms kept me from sleeping. The air and ventilation were bad, and there were cockroaches. The view was of a dirty street. They moved us to a “new” room, but the sheets there were dirty too, and the toilet soap dispenser didn’t work, so there was no soap. We also had no phone to call reception. The door wouldn’t lock properly, and I needed help from reception to lock it when we went out. There was nowhere secure to store our luggage. They told us to leave it by the desk, where anyone passing could easily reach it. So many things were wrong for a hotel that’s supposed to be of a better standard.

We were very grateful to Hotel Helin Craiova for taking us in at 2 a.m. on Saturday after our original hotel failed to open its doors after midnight. The night staff were welcoming and incredibly helpful, and quickly set up a comfortable room for our family of four. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a good night’s sleep. Some things, like the door frames and shower cabin, were older, but worked fine and caused no problems. Breakfast was tasty and had enough variety for a pleasant start to the day. Parking was the only small drawback. The hotel is on a busy street with no spaces right outside, though there are several options a few hundred metres away.

First time staying here. The rooms were quiet, clean, and roomy, and everyone working there was kind, professional, and helpful. Breakfast was fresh each morning and really tasty.

After paying over 600 lei for one night, we got to the room after midnight following a wedding and found there was no hot water. We couldn't even take a proper bath.
