Pensiunea Sarmis

The rooms were clean and had enough space, and the pool was clean and relaxing. But the thin walls and doors let in a lot of noise. We could hear people in the corridor and next room, and it was hard to sleep in the evening, morning, and even afternoon while the ladies were cleaning. The restaurant needs a lot of improvement. The woman meant to serve breakfast, Larisa, was very rude and unprofessional. The area also needed more cleaning: the tables were dirty, and the tablecloths looked like they hadn't been changed in a while. It put us off having breakfast. In the end, neither of the two things we needed, proper rest and food, worked out.

The employees were very nice, and the location is within walking distance of the Roman Forum. Apart from those positives, it was a very bad experience, and the price doesn't match the overall quality. The photos look good, but the bed was old and creaky, and some rooms had no hot water. The food was bad: the Ciorba de Fasole was tasteless, the varză was bad, and the papanasi were underbaked. The tennis court had lots of bumps, so the balls bounced unpredictably.

The rooms were clean, and the apartments had a small fridge, but I wouldn't recommend this place for a large group. We were 10 people, including some visitors from outside Romania, and had booked three apartments. When I phoned, the owner said the restaurant closed at 10:00 PM. I told her we'd arrive late, but she didn't mention that the last order was at 8:30 PM. We arrived at 8:40 PM, and she raised her voice at me in the parking lot in front of everyone. She wasn't polite or discreet about it. I had to explain her very rude behavior to the group. We drove 13-15 minutes to Hateg and had a great dinner elsewhere. There was no heating, and the rooms were cold, so we used all the extra blankets in the closet. Hot water was available in the evening, but in the morning it was cold, so we couldn't shower. No one had told us about that either. This is my first one star review. I'll try to be as objective as I can. If you can't find another place, maybe go in summer when you won't need heating, and arrive early. Perhaps you'd have a different experience. The owner was rude.
