Marald Eforie Nord

The staff weren’t friendly.

The stay at Marald guesthouse in Eforie Nord was unpleasant. The place was dirty, the bathroom smelled bad, and after guests left, the room wasn’t cleaned or refreshed apart from changing the linen. Cleanliness and upkeep were both very poor. The problems got worse when we were leaving. We’d taken our luggage to the car, then my husband quickly ate something in the shared kitchen and accidentally left two dirty plates behind. Instead of politely mentioning them, a woman, probably the owner, spoke very aggressively, insulted us, and threatened to call the police. She also made personal remarks about our family, which was shocking and completely inappropriate. We weren’t given a tax receipt for the accommodation either, which raises serious questions about how the guesthouse is run. Poor conditions and no respect or professionalism from the host. I don’t recommend this place at all.

The location is great, with the beach close by and quite a few restaurants around. But the room was disappointing. I had to ask the person responsible for the rooms three times before our sheets and pillowcases were changed. The rest was okay.

We booked and paid a 50% deposit, but the lady wouldn’t reserve our room when we were still two hours from reaching the destination. We spent one night in a triple room with three rather uncomfortable single beds. The furniture and linen were old, and many of the floor tiles were cracked. The bathroom was small but clean, with no shower cabin. The TV, fridge, and air conditioning all worked. The place is right on the pedestrian street, with access through two stall shops and up some fairly steep stairs.
